Smell the roses because this day its all about giving and receiving plenty of them. Someone once said “life is not rosy”.There is exception to every rule and here is a perfect example that indeed at least one day could be exactly that.
What could be more amazing then starting with LOVER’S DAYtradition on April 23rd and getting a rose from a complete stranger. Anything is possible when you live or visit New York. With such a cultural mix of different holiday observations this one will melt everyone’s heart. Because who doesn’t like roses?
The main idea of this fête is for lovers to swap extra gifts of books to celebrate love and kindness. I was very busy that day handling both to New Yorkers honoring this feast that originated in Catalonia, Spain. To my surprise I met several Spaniard tourists that embraced this celebration with open hearts and big smiles on 5th Ave.
St. George (Sant Jordi) is a patron Saint of Catalonia. He was a soldier in the Roman Army and has been most regarded for slaying a wicked dragon in the town of Silene in North Africa that kept the princess captive. As soon as dragon was killed and blood spilled a rose grew as a symbol of love and friendship. This gave a beginning to a wonderful LOVERS DAY celebration in 1926.
Natura Bisse celebrated their own Lover’s Beauty Day Event at Bergdorf Goodman store in New York. They emerged in this tradition by capturing their DIAMONDallure for all Bergdorf Blondes with their signature treatments and special offerings.
This could be one way of unexpected joy of living one big street party full of roses. And again who said that life can’t be rosy? If it was up to me I would sweeten it up even more with some organic natural delicious chocolates.
P.S. As always I would like to hear from you how would you celebrate your Lover’s Day? Share some comments, tips and suggestions with the rest of us.
If there was ever a time I wish to clone myself Arianna Huffingtonwould be top candidate on my list. In her effortless way of 2 day Thrive Live event she reunited 2000 sleep deprived unisex beauties in New York city the place that never sleeps. Living in the big Apple is all about getting results and surely New Yorkers have shameless guts to go for it. Knowledge and awareness is everything because as media says
“if it bleeds it leads”.
The THRIVE event opened important conversation for creating a change, redefining success with full integration, but foremost consciously being present.
Arianna Huffington truly created platform for Thriving not surviving with profound stage repertoire from NY Times best selling authors, speakers, top comedians, heart touching music performance and panel conversations.
Envision slowing down, eliminate sensory overload and you are on your way to THRIVE!:
Wow…Sister I m listening! You got my full attention.

Even though Ms Huffington is not a regular person I believe in a power of ordinary people creating positive change in the world. Her legacy beyond the doubt turned around average citizens of the world perception on capturing american dream. Being Greek immigrant herself who’s emergence to US along with strong sleek accent proved as fierce assets initiating significant change not only in world’s of media but self thriving and enhancing millions of lives.
The main ingredient that contributed to her empire was simply her genius brain, big vision, stubbornness and once upon a time over exhaustion from sleep depravation that resulted in collapsing to the floor accident that broke her jaw and required some stitches.
Sleep depravation has been a major factor causing some biggest catastrophes. I remember growing up in Poland when a case of train station female guard who fall asleep just for 5 minutes at her little traffic monitoring booth devastatingly killing so many. It shook the whole country realizing that sleep loss is a big public safety hazard every day on the road. I can only imagine this guard’s life how sleepless it became from that point on.
Huffington’s success story came with a high price of a wake up call or rather call to action the quest of creating this sister hood movement. I admire her. She is a queen of throwing spontaneous top banana jokes, shares practical tips, makes everyone welcomed, invites you to wonder, and let’s everything else unimportant go. She believes that women majorly can share her vision by getting this campaign off the ground.
Best tip of the day: I loved her suggestion of completing a project simply by dropping it.
There is so much to learn from this woman. When she approached me in theatre line before the show started I felt her divine presence. She deeply looked me in the eyes with such intensity of kindness and it felt as if she was always my BFF.
Just a week prior to this event I have freshly graduated from Health Educator Program at Hippocrates Health Institutein West Palm Beach, FL. I perpetually remain hungry for “pure-organic” knowledge and wisdom. THRIVE event turned out to be cherry on the icing of such infinite intelligence. The integrity of real success is so aphrodisiac and goes much beyond power and money.
That was my AHA movement. Is giving a secret to success? We find confirmation not only in ourselves but in people around. Giving should pay off right?. Why generosity is so costly then? Getting perspective to connecting to people’s pain, their stories and laughter its the third metric to achieve pure organic delicious richness. If I level with my fashionista customers I could never sell them medicore products. The data shows that givers are the biggest performers.
The obvious patterns of successful givers: spot the takers at your mist. Be conscious. Takers rise quickly but also fall quickly.
One more time its Ms Huffington’s way of giving back to us DIFFERENTLY: without restricted interactions. In times of challenge its all about how we relate to things. Obstacles are like hidden blessings and we just need to trust there is a greater purpose there. Life has everything written in our favor.
I couldn’t imagine THRIVE event been organized any other way. Everything Arianna touches turns into gold. It felt like its power and success was achieved so simply with her liberating compelling mission. This movement is eye opening and has many prongs to be the most important issue for all of us today.I learned exactly what I was supposed to learn and highlighted the day with few new THRIVING friends.
I always took lightly reading clothing fabric content labels. As a fashion stylist I select thousands of garments from various designers from all over the world and sadly I have to report that most of the luxury brands use synthetic fibers. After I read a book Killer Clothes by Dr. Brian and Anna Maria Clement and did some research on my own I understood this sad reality. I checked my own closet along with all girlfriends in desperation to find some natural organic garments. To my surprise I found very few that could pass that test. Unfortunately what I mostly found was either nylon, polyester, spandex and some unspecified kind of cottons. Cotton today is the biggest target to be grown GMO engaged in toxic production methods. It’s hazardous to the human’s health as well harms the environment. Most consumers assume if an item is labeled “cotton” or even “natural” it must be automatically safe. This is so far from the truth. Not all cottons are created equal. Non-organic cotton contains residues of herbicides and pesticides used in the growing process.
Organically grown is applied when ecological production management system is used. It enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil cultivation activity. It promotes ecological harmony without pesticides, and practices safe crop rotation.
Conventionally produced cotton material may only last up to 10 machine washes, whereas organic cotton can last for 100 machine washes before it starts to show wear.
The first truly synthetic fiber created was nylon around 1939. The most popular consumer use women found in stockings and pantyhose that were growing on its popularity in the mainstream fashion. They restrict and suffocate the skin, our largest and most sensitive body organ, making it unable to breath properly. Most people don’t realize that our skin is our body’s most important organ to eliminate toxins. We release a pound of toxins every day throughout our skin.
Can you imagine that overall
clothing industry produced in the world today constitutes to $7 trillion a year.
No wonder its all about low cost and huge profits. Unfortunately at our safety cost where big brands profit sabotaging our health. Up to one-third of married couples today experience fertility problems. Respiratory diseases have increased 160% among preschoolers in Europe and North America. Our risk of contracting cancer have escalated until one in two males and one in three females will develop this disease. Women have significantly increase chances of developing breast cancer.
Making first good impression on others is very important to a lot of us. Usually we are given only one chance to do so. We judge on the spot by the physical appearance. We become what we wear through colors, styles, and flamboyant fashion expressions. Wearing natural fiber clothes help us to maintain healthy body and minds and projects healthier more colorful future to us all.
P.S. As always I would love to hear from you if you check your labels when clothes shipping. Do you shop for organic cottons and other fibers? Share your comments, suggestions and tips with the rest of os.
with Victoras Kulvinskas co-founder of Hippocrates
I wish you could all be here with me at Hippocrates Health Institutepicking the brains of those amazing dedicated lecturers that I deeply admire. They devoted their life to a powerful mission of helping thousands to create the life filled with meaning, wisdom and wonder. There has been so much to absorb and digest from each speaker, and digestive enzymes had nothing to do with it. I barely had any time to sleep trying to process and sort out everything I was learning. They all brought some unique intelligence, definition of personal success, knowledge, passion, encouragement, devotion and huge heart. We were all wired up, interactive with questions and quickly grasping to each revelation as each speaker was taking the stage. I am a practical gal who likes to implement such wisdom right on the spot. My head was spinning from astonishment and flow of accurate information quickly filling up my notebook. I must say I really enjoyed immensely lectures of Victoras Kulvinskasco founder, with Wigmore of Hippocrates Institute. He is a walking wellness library ready to be shared at any asked moment. You can just turn pages in his genius brain and find answer to every inquiry. I also was drowned to Dr. Brian and Anna Maria Clements with Q&A session. They got my juices flowing much before they were physically poured and served. I got lots of clarity, and wish I could stop the time. It was a natural progression of what I have became aware of. They really created my own personal revolution: how I nourish my body and listen to it, reshuffle priorities, values, and choices.
This has been transformational guide to my personal inspiration. I have learned that I m now conscious of how every choice I make can have an impact on everything and everyone around. We are all like supporting family.
Here are some valuable points I took notes of and wanted to share with you:
1. Dr.Brian Clement informed us about shocking reality of what really goes on behind the door of majority food chain industries. I wasn’t aware that food chain companies hire biochemists around the clock with huge salaries to create addicting poisonous chemical formulas in our foods.
2. I have learned great value and benefits of wheat grass, sprouts, and blue green algae. These super foods give enormous amounts of energy and vitality allowing our physique to function on optimal level. Your body and mind will thank you for it through your increased energy levels, the health of your skin, and stronger immune system.
3. Only fox can digest eggs
4. Tomato is a fruit
5. Watermelon is a new Viagra.
6. Cashews are poisonous. They are not sold raw as claimed and contained urushiol that can create significant skin rashes, and can be toxic when ingested.
7. Avocado is a source of healthy bacteria
8. The day you rest you develop muscles
9. Fish goes rancid when is out of water for more then 20 minutes
10. Melons are meant to eat alone. They digest within 15-30 minutes
11. Coconut oil is great for teeth pulling. It will make your gums stronger and will kill bacteria
12. Mongbeans fight flu and restore gray hair
13. Right food combining: carbohydrates don’t mix with protein. Starches don’t mix with protein, fruits, avocado. Fruits don’t mix with vegetables, and protein.
14. Antibiotics don’t kill viruses but bacteria
15. To eat fruits you must be healthy. They should be 15% of your overall diet. Sugar feeds Candida and cancer.
16. Chocolate is made of agave and nibs.
17. Don’t put apple cider vinegar to food as it kills enzymes.
18. Proteins don’t put weight on, carbohydrates do
19. Dr. Clement said “Define your purpose and find your passion. Purposeful life is a life worth living”.
20. Victoras Kulvinskas said “Be you not BS”!
This content was fascinating and gaining this knowledge is priceless. Once you are in you are in for life. I m so eager to live my life as a happy and healthy adventure. If I get the gift to inspire someone the same way I was inspired by those teachers it will be the cherry on top.
Whenever I talk in social gatherings about diet, nutrition or detoxing I get everyone’s full attention. We are obsessed with image, quick fixes, sugar and prescription drugs. Majority wants to know how to set themselves free from all bad feeding habits. We tend to hold on to things we value the most. Eating is such an emotional act and letting go of some favorite unhealthy dishes can cause some psychological chaos. We are sugar addicts with set rules for devouring food. It has become a hot topic. Those who take huge effort to maintain a good quality of life will be repaid with turning clocks and enjoy more youthful vigor. Statistics tell us that those who drink, smoke, eat meat, lack sleep and rest, overwork, and stress prematurely meet the early grave. And those who manage to survive significantly reduce their quality of life.
I felt compelled to try this kinder, healthier lifestyle change to improve my health, well being and I must saythe transition to living foods diet was noticeably smooth. It wasn’t a sacrifice at all. I decided to be in charge of my own rules what I could eat. It opened a new exciting window of pursuing life and its manifestations. At the heart of Veganism is compassion, it is simply an attempt to reduce the suffering of animals and understanding that they are not source of vital nutrients. I love animals but not on my plate. Life is sweet right now! In fact, it is so sweet that I am once again avoiding sugar, or rather I guess I find creative way to make it sweet vegan way.
Giving up all animal products including meat, milk, eggs, yogurt and cheese at first seemed impossible. Just imagine spending few months in la Cote Basque, France where its all about eating world’s best cheeses, rabuggo and pata negra hams and freshly baked baguettes that tempt you from every farmer’s corner. I was asking myself how can I let go of these deceiving my health “goodies”. Fortunately I found huge abundance of fresh organic non-GMO locally produced tasty fruits, legumes, and nuts that build full powerful immune spectrum. I turn my focus to strengthening the longevity and superior health with yoga, fitness, meditation, pure air, sunshine, oxygen rich forests, breath taking mountains, ocean waves and beautiful nature. I focus on gratitude and appreciation. Few undesired pounds just came off, energy increased, clothes fit better and seemed more colorful then usual. Its been blue print of mind reprogramming and took more then dietary changes.
A common misconception about vegan diets is that it is impossible to consume healthful levels of protein. One can easily derive more than enough protein from a vegan diet. (like sprouts and see vegetables that are protein rich) Human body thrives wholly on plant based vitamins and minerals. Most foods that you regularly eat can be made vegan with little effort. For example, you can still enjoy burritos, but instead of meat and cheese, you may substitute with nuts, beans, salsa and nut cheese with pinch of sesame and sea salt. If you have a sweet attack frozen banana or nut icecream are great solution to satisfy your sweet tooth.
We all have a responsibility to listen to our own souls and each of us desires something different and that’s a good thing. As I continue to “Vegucate” myself I am planning to compensate fully vegan lifestyle by staying within vegan vortex, explore new recipes, throw vegan dinner parties and share this message with the world!
P.S. As always i would like to hear from you if eating is emotional for you? How does it effect your life. Share your comments, tips and suggestions with the rest of us.
