More Than An Education, Nothing Less Than An Inspiration

When I made the decision to pursue an education in the culinary arts, I knew I wanted to join a program that emphasized a raw, organic approach. I researched different options and wasn’t sure if I would find the right fit amongst the numerous unoriginal programs that existed. I was beginning to lose hope until one morning when I stumbled upon a comprehensive curriculum that embraced the true “art” of raw cooking. I was intrigued as I learned it attracted inspiring chefs from all across the globe and was founded in response to the increased demand for raw cooking in this industry. Like love at first sight, I knew I had found my perfect fit. So I took a leap of faith and flew to Santa Monica, California where I began learning from some of the very best at Matthew Kenney Culinary.

The Matthew Kenney mission is to advance cutting edge living cuisine and caters to those desiring “professional-style” techniques. Their programs “emphasize the use of whole, organic, unprocessed, plant-based foods to achieve healthy, aesthetically refined and flavorful cuisine.” But it was more than just frequent flyer miles and an attractive website that led me all the way to the west coast. What I loved most about Matthew Kenney Culinary was the intimate atmosphere in which you learn.

Upon arrival to Matthew Kenney Culinary I found myself admiring and pulling inspiration from their unique ambiance. I was encouraged to embrace my creativity and learn the true “art” of cooking and the preparation of raw, vegan cuisine. Classes were personalized and customized to my needs and I can honestly say I truly gained a hands-on experience. I couldn’t help but love every minute of my time in Santa Monica, learning much more than I had imagined. And to my surprise, I had the chance to learn from Matthew Kenney himself.

Not only did Matthew Kenney’s delicious cooking resemble that of a Picasso painting (yes, Picasso) but his superior approach to teaching was complimented by his encouraging, amiable demeanor. I am so gracious for his motivating and nurturing spirit and I am more than happy with my decision to fly across the country to learn from the best in raw cooking. With such a positive atmosphere, I couldn’t help but take my craft to the next level and I hope you all have the chance to taste my delicious raw chocolate and see for yourself just what I learned!

The Importance of Meditation in Your Fast-Paced Lifestyle

Everyone is in a perpetual rush and break is not a common word in our dictionary. After all, this is the city that never sleeps. We’re too busy making dreams come true to find a moment to relax. And I must admit I am no different. With the release of my first fashion line approaching, Boutique On 57 and my raw chocolate business, there is hardly time to catch a wink of sleep. I am constantly traveling to find the latest designer clothing to bring back to you at discounted prices. But as a health educator, I am also well aware of the importance of rest and relaxation, as well as the consequences of the lack thereof. Because I refuse to give up any of my dreams, as none of us should, I have had to find a way to relieve stress in my life that allows me to regain my sanity and focus. How, you ask? One word: meditation. Meditation is a very useful tool to add to your daily routine for multiple reasons and there are multiple techniques. With a little research, you can find the best option for you. Whether it be 45 minutes of yoga, gazing at nature or a short, deep breathing exercise, you will soon find yourself wreaking benefits. Meditation has been known to help with a lot of health-related problems including depression, heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure and general pain. It is the most inexpensive (really, it can cost nothing) treatment for all of these issues and one faced by almost everyone, stress. It is a very simple skill in managing stress and increases self-awareness, allowing us to focus on the present and reduce negative emotions. Perhaps you need to clear your mind before bed to catch a few extra Z’s. Maybe you’ve been searching for a new perspective on a work project. Or you might just be looking to restore your inner peace on your lunch hour. No problem – the benefits of meditation are unlimited so give it a try! KASIA P.S. Project flat stomach this summer

FOOTBALL-16Are you tired of hiding your belly under baggy tops? YES! Are you tired of buying pants a size too big to cover up your love handles? YES! So, are you ready to eliminate your belly and have a flat stomach? YESSS! If you really want to eliminate your muffin top for good and win an elusive six-pack, follow these steps and make it happen.

Your body is like a chain; the best way of burning that belly fat is by working all of your muscles groups in order to get that killer six-pack.  Don’t concentrate on doing just abs or crunches, work on every muscle of your body to strengthen your body and burn calories.

Secondly, start balancing on the palm of your hand and balls of your feet, that way you will core abdominal muscles, practice balance, and strengthen your chest and back muscles.

My third step is the toughest battle, eliminating love handles. The best way of getting rid of them is by doing side-bench stretch. Although they will not be removed 100%, you will break down the fat that is build in that zone of your body.

The following step and one of the most important: the food! Eliminate preservatives and focus on eating whole, quality, organic foods rich in nutrients. Beans and legumes, berries, and nuts are three great foods that help you burn fat more rapidly. So prepare a snack before heading to the gym with one of these three foods, and don’t be scare to alternate them.

This next step may be challenging for some of you, eliminating alcohol and sugar. Alcohol is your worst enemy, it contains estrogen that holds onto the weight and stimulates your appetite. Ergo eliminate it until you’ve achieved your health goal.

Our last step is to reduce sodium intake and up water intake. By reducing and eliminating sodium intake, you reduce the chances of bloating and water retention. And this is no brainer; drink 8 or more glasses of water a day.

By eating healthy, doing at least 45 minutes of exercise a day, and following these simple steps you will win that body you’ve always dreamed of faster than a heartbeat. These tips will help you shed inches and pounds, banish the bloat, and feel even more beautiful. Hello, skinny jeans!

I keep saying that I don’t know what would have I done if I never met Dr. Clement in my life. One thing is certain that when a student is ready teacher always appears. When I meet him it felt so natural to squeeze every drop of wisdom, kindness and generosity out of him as he has plenty to share with everyone. Prior coming to Hippocrates Institute I have heard amazing things about him. He had huge dreams and even bigger vision to build this place where everyone from all over the world can come and indulge in new rawlishes life, daily shots of wheatgrass, green juices, find peace, happiness, longevity and get tons of support. He has been my role model teaching me that “The choices we make determine our fate”.

Millions of people worldwide suffer from malnutrition, poor guidance, stress and conflict. Fortunately there are people dedicated to give us tools of wisdom, love and passion to reboot our belief systems and start living lives we were meant to. With the 40 years of promoting this legacy Dr. Brian and Anna Maria Clement vision provokes people to take responsibility to make more sensible style lives. Health is wealth where generating positive mind set, joy, strength and thrive doesn’t happen by chance. As Dr. Clement said he doesn’t heal no one rather we are our own healers. Its up to us to begin to see this way to health and wealth.

The ultimate goal for most of us is to make it to haven. I feel that I am so ahead of myself and I am already in celestial zone since my studies at Hippocrates Health Institute I would be surprised if “promised land” could match this magical place with its glory, tranquility miracles and all blessings showered upon everyone here. The concept of time doesn’t exist here.  Each guest can start learning from wherever they need to begin in order to grow, heal and transform their life. Regardless if you need to overcome your health challenges or improve a well-being staying in harmony with nature gives everyone courage and commitment to live responsible life. I believe that all the time we spend in Nature heals, soothes and changes us right down to the core of our being. Slowly we discover that Nature calms the anger and drama in our head and things start to calm down and relax. Most of us accumulate toxins we don’t even understand. We are literally, physically addicted to the stress hormones that are released into our body by the perpetual drama and frantic activity. Often this takes severe toll on our body, mind and spirit. Through the health education program at Hippocrates Health Institute, its the premiere natural guidance to wellness with passionate stuff, and major dedication for self-fulfilled life. You will need to abandon your unhealthy habits and give a chance to new organic life. We are one big family here.

The core principle to well being here is based on raw living food diet. For some this could be totally new experience and challenge to get used to. Give it a time and you will be pleasantly surprised of developing new delicious palete. Hippocrates diet consists of 80% raw and 20% cooked food. The executive chef Ken Blue coordinates delicious and colorful buffet that is rich in variety of organic fresh sprouts, salads, legumes, sweet peppers and side dishes properly food combined. There is no salt, nor vinegar used. So far my favorite dish has been kelp pasta with mild sweet flavor, and nut icecream served every saturday. You should see the lines when they get hand out. During my internship with chef Ken in the kitchen I had an opportunity to observe how efficiently everything gets prepared with detailed precision, caring, and locally sourced top quality products. There is no cutting corners on products nor produce substitution. It was a great experience to share this knowledge where I could test this theory with my own new possibilities to create inspiring fun vegan recipes.

The second main success component of the program is wheat grass juice. Its considered here to be literately “blood transfusion”. When I learned about its health wonders and rich nutritious content with full balanced spectrum of vitamins and minerals I made sure I got plenty of this miraculous liquid. Instantly my energy and endurance improved, but the most exciting was relief of heavy menstrual cramps. I have to warn you in advance that I will be bragging all the way down this post about MAGICAL place where I stayed for 9 weeks during my Health Educator Program at HHI. It was the most amazing experience I had a privilege to endure. The accumulated new energy, recharged batteries and gained knowledge is bursting so much inside my veins that I have a need to share it with everyone.

In this complicated and hectic world we live in, if we want to thrive we must survive, and what better way of surviving than by having a healthy life. Whether you are spending three hours jogging, two hours running, or five hours swimming, if you don’t combine that with a healthy nourishment, then it’s all going to waste. I really hate to use the word diet, because its not about depriving yourself of food but making smart educated choices that will refuel your body and mind.

At Hippocrates Health Institute they help you merge all these fundamental elements that guide you to a more healthy state of being.
