Every year I attend the New York Fancy Food Show held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and I must say that every time has been a tremendous experience. I went on Monday and Tuesday of June 27th and 28th and it was a major turn out. Hundreds of food booths are available for you to stop by and try their samples, and allowing you to chat and connect with them as well. Many wholesalers, retailers, and distributors all regarding the food industry come in for this show every year to make connections. There is such a huge range regarding the food that is offered to you, which is nice because you get a little taste of everything from all over the world!

Il Gelataio G7 is a gelato brand that is made in Italy and is the most delicious gelato I have ever tasted in my life. It was unreal! The company had so many different flavors to choose from to try, but I went for the Hazelnut, my all time favorite flavor. This gelato is special because of the handmade filling procedure, filling ever tub with gelato manually. They also make sure to use the best Italian ingredients and fresh Italian milk when making the amazing gelato flavors, also including everything is gluten free (yay!). My taste buds were going crazy because of how tasty this gelato was. I asked for three samples every time I was at the booth and went back for more samples the second day I was at the food show as well. I hunted down this booth because I couldn’t leave without having a taste before the show was over. The workers probably were sick of me always asking to try all the flavors. I didn’t care, that’s why they are here. Il Gelataio G7 is sold worldwide, but you can find the gelato in the United States located in California, Texas, Missouri, and Michigan.

Sigdal Bakeri is a Norwegian family owned bakery that started their crispbread production in 2010. Crispbread, aka, some of the best tasting all natural wholegrain crackers I’ve ever eaten, comes in ten different flavors, all which are appetizing! Each cracker flavor has a unique taste that contains different seeds and kernels. It’s been hard for me to find a healthy, good tasting, and nutritious cracker all in one. Talk about the perfect cracker! This was the first booth I went to at the show and it was amazing! If you pair these crisps with avocado or hummus it is the ultimate snack for the day. These crackers are sold in the Norwegian, Scandinavia, and several European markets. You can find these crispbread crackers sold online at the VeganSupply.ca or their website sigdalbakeri.com that is available to the United States. They also are exported here in New York City.

I recommend attending the food show next summer to anyone and everyone! Come with a very empty stomach because you will be having your breakfast, lunch, and dinner all at this event! Let me tell you, it does not disappoint!

I know what you’re all thinking, another chocolate bar brand that will make you feel guilty after finishing it. Believe me when I tell you that this isn’t just like any other brand because listen up, every piece is made with organic raw ingredients, leaving everything dairy free, gluten free, soy free, and has very little sugar using stevia and coconut sugar. The chocolate flavoring comes from raw cacao powder and macca powder accommodated with mix of nuts, puff grains, and seeds. Did I mention that every bar is handmade too? This new company RAWMANTICCHOCOLATE is the real deal for healthy chocolates!

First off, the signature energy protein bar. The bar is offered in three flavors: dark chocolate, vanilla, and there is also a vegan option, using organic carob. This energy bar can be your breakfast, meal replacement or lunch, and serve you a dessert as well. This is very convenient for when you’re busy and on the go! What I love most about this energy bar is that it’s light on your stomach and it’s a whopping two ounces, what a deal! I could eat these bars for days on end.

There are delicious raw chocolates available as well, including plain chocolate squares, chocolate squares with toppings, and truffles (yum). All of the items come in dark (75%) raw chocolate and vanilla (dairy-free), all handcrafted from organic raw ingredients. The chocolate squares have toppings consisting of almonds, hazelnuts, figs, millet, and quinoa. These toppings were chosen to be conscious of common nut allergies; so many people can consume these delicious sweets! The truffles are offered plain or with amazing different fillings, as well as dipped in different toppings such as coconut shavings and hazelnuts. My mouth is watering while typing. I need these chocolates RIGHT now!

The company has done events at local markets and organic cafes, which is where the energy bars and chocolates are sold. The events have included setting up a table and putting free samples on a platter that are offered to any customers in the stores. We love to mingle with customers and make sure they have a great experience when it comes to eating these chocolates because what’s not to love?

After Thanksgiving gilt-free thoughts

As much as I would like to pretend we still have months until the holiday cooking and shopping commences, the fact of the matter is Thanksgiving just passed few days ago. With the boutique perpetually busy (by no means is this a complaint) and the preparation of my new clothing line, amongst multiple other business ventures, time seems to have escaped me. And I am sure it has escaped many of you. So if you are hosting this year’s holiday (or just in charge of bringing your favorite dishes to someone else’s party) but feeling pressed for time, remain calm. I have gathered some healthy and delicious (and fairly simple) recipes that are sure to amaze all of your guests!

I have spent it in Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida with Turkey-less dishes and must say it was pretty delicious, creative and light weight.

If you are less strict then me then you may enjoy a classic side, mashed potatoes. Because what is Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes? Not Thanksgiving! Other not so common options, you ask? This year I am excited to try a new side consisting of pan-seared Brussel sprouts with cranberries and pecans. Yum! I will be sure to let you know how it turns out.

Lastly, let’s move on to the ultimate holiday calorie killer. Desserts. I have two options to offer you this year that I am sure you will not regret! Option one? Mini raw pumpkin pies. More Than An Education, Nothing Less Than An Inspiration

When I made the decision to pursue an education in the culinary arts, I knew I wanted to join a program that emphasized a raw, organic approach. I researched different options and wasn’t sure if I would find the right fit amongst the numerous unoriginal programs that existed. I was beginning to lose hope until one morning when I stumbled upon a comprehensive curriculum that embraced the true “art” of raw cooking. I was intrigued as I learned it attracted inspiring chefs from all across the globe and was founded in response to the increased demand for raw cooking in this industry. Like love at first sight, I knew I had found my perfect fit. So I took a leap of faith and flew to Santa Monica, California where I began learning from some of the very best at Matthew Kenney Culinary.

The Matthew Kenney mission is to advance cutting edge living cuisine and caters to those desiring “professional-style” techniques. Their programs “emphasize the use of whole, organic, unprocessed, plant-based foods to achieve healthy, aesthetically refined and flavorful cuisine.” But it was more than just frequent flyer miles and an attractive website that led me all the way to the west coast. What I loved most about Matthew Kenney Culinary was the intimate atmosphere in which you learn.

Upon arrival to Matthew Kenney Culinary I found myself admiring and pulling inspiration from their unique ambiance. I was encouraged to embrace my creativity and learn the true “art” of cooking and the preparation of raw, vegan cuisine. Classes were personalized and customized to my needs and I can honestly say I truly gained a hands-on experience. I couldn’t help but love every minute of my time in Santa Monica, learning much more than I had imagined. And to my surprise, I had the chance to learn from Matthew Kenney himself.

Not only did Matthew Kenney’s delicious cooking resemble that of a Picasso painting (yes, Picasso) but his superior approach to teaching was complimented by his encouraging, amiable demeanor. I am so gracious for his motivating and nurturing spirit and I am more than happy with my decision to fly across the country to learn from the best in raw cooking. With such a positive atmosphere, I couldn’t help but take my craft to the next level and I hope you all have the chance to taste my delicious raw chocolate and see for yourself just what I learned!

If there’s anything I love more than fashion, it’s chocolate. But lets be honest, these two do not mix well. Health is a big part of fashion and if your desire is to be fashionable, or “à la mode,” you need to eat healthy. If you’re eating healthy, chocolate should not be on your grocery list, right? But isn’t there always an exception to the rule?

Try my delicious raw chocolates and you’ll find the exception. My chocolates are 100% organic, low in sugar and calories, GMO free and contain no artificial flavors. And lets not forget, they melt in your mouth – now that’s what I like to call fashion forward!

Part of western culture today is the desire to be thin. Who doesn’t want to show off their beautiful wardrobe while accentuating their abs in a trendy crop top or their slim legs in a pair of high-waisted jean shorts? That is all perfectly fine but deprivation is not. Should you divulge in a box of snowcaps every day? No, an excess of anything is unhealthy. But enjoying just two squares of chocolate each day can produce positive effects in your mood without harming your diet. If you want to indulge your sweet tooth but remain guilt-free, my raw chocolate is the perfect substitute.

The sensation you get when biting into a delicious piece of dark chocolate is just as amazing, if not more, than the sensation you get when you try on that gown you’ve been eyeing on Madison Avenue for the past two months. Your body releases endorphins causing you to feel excitement, pleasure, and more importantly, happiness. Nothing can beat that natural emotion and so I stand corrected; fashion and chocolate DO mix well!

We all know chocolate can cheer you up. Whether you’re going through a breakup, or just feeling hormonal, chocolate can boost serotonin (aka the “happy hormone”) levels in your brain. But you don’t have to follow this emotion with guilt and regret. Just a bite of my delicious chocolate truffles will make you feel happier without any negative consequences. And just like the happy feeling you have when you buy yourself that beautiful handbag you’ve been saving, you will feel that from my chocolate too. Same hormone, same feeling!

Once you try my delicious truffles, your life will never be the same.  I know I certainly can’t live without them. Go ahead and give them a chance! You know you want to.
