Smell the roses because this day its all about giving and receiving plenty of them. Someone once said “life is not rosy”. There is exception to every rule and here is a perfect example that indeed at least one day could be exactly that.
What could be more amazing then starting with LOVER’S DAY tradition on April 23rd and getting a rose from a complete stranger. Anything is possible when you live or visit New York. With such a cultural mix of different holiday observations this one will melt everyone’s heart. Because who doesn’t like roses?
The main idea of this fête is for lovers to swap extra gifts of books to celebrate love and kindness. I was very busy that day handling both to New Yorkers honoring this feast that originated in Catalonia, Spain. To my surprise I met several Spaniard tourists that embraced this celebration with open hearts and big smiles on 5th Ave.
St. George (Sant Jordi) is a patron Saint of Catalonia. He was a soldier in the Roman Army and has been most regarded for slaying a wicked dragon in the town of Silene in North Africa that kept the princess captive. As soon as dragon was killed and blood spilled a rose grew as a symbol of love and friendship. This gave a beginning to a wonderful LOVERS DAY celebration in 1926.
Natura Bisse celebrated their own Lover’s Beauty Day Event at Bergdorf Goodman store in New York. They emerged in this tradition by capturing their DIAMOND allure for all Bergdorf Blondes with their signature treatments and special offerings.
This could be one way of unexpected joy of living one big street party full of roses. And again who said that life can’t be rosy? If it was up to me I would sweeten it up even more with some organic natural delicious chocolates.
